5 Questions to Ask a Caterer Before Hiring Them
You have a big event coming up, one that is so important you plan on hiring professional catering services. Perhaps it’s a corporate event where you want to treat your guests exceptionally well. Maybe it’s a birthday party or a baby shower. Your party may actually be a wedding! Whatever the reason for your gathering, one thing is certain: the food must be perfect. That is why you don’t want to hire just any California taco catering company; you want to hire the absolute best of the best.
Of course, you don’t hire catering companies every day. How do you even begin weeding out the good companies from the bad? Before you sign a contract booking your event, be sure to ask all five of these important questions:
#1 Have you done an event similar to this in the past? The best wedding caterer may not be the right fit for your corporate event, and vice versa. Someone who has worked on similar events will know how to handle last-minute changes, how to interact with the people attending your event, and more.
#2 Have you ever worked at this venue? A caterer coming into a new venue could come up against unforeseen challenges. It could be as simple as the kitchen being further from the event room than they realized. A company that has already served at your chosen venue before will know the ins and outs of the kitchen, the facilities, and how to make the most of the area.
#3 What is included in your free quote? Make sure the quote you get includes:
- Taxes
- Staff
- Cake cutting
- Alcohol
- Table service
- Gratuities
- Serving ware
- Clear away
You don’t want extra fees that were not included in the original agreement to be a bad surprise when you get your final bill.
#4 Can you accommodate dietary restrictions? You can and should find a taco caterer willing to work with dietary restrictions. If offering a special meal to certain family and friends is important to you, be sure to look into veggie taco options, as well as organic options, soy tacos, and kosher tacos.
#5 How many tacos does each party goer get? The catering company will plan for a certain amount of food per person. Typically, there will be a limit of four to five tacos maximum per guest. If you want your guests to eat their hearts out, there is an unlimited option you can inquire about.
Once a catering company has answered all of these questions to your liking, go ahead and book their services. You’ll feel confident that you have found the right taco catering company for your big event.
